PACK A PUNCH

An old favourite is coming back into fashion: Punch. Once regarded as the awkward bowl of floating fruit at school dances has captured our attention again and it on its' way back into our dinner parties.
We toke this incredible punch recipe from wellness gurus: Hemsley and Hemsley and added a some champagne to lighten it up for the last days of summer.
Try this at your next dinner party and be prepared to wow your guests!
Cheers everyone!
Spiced Apple Brandy and Champagne Punch
Makes 1 litre of punch ( 8 glasses )
6 Cored apples
1 handful of fresh cranberries
2 thumb-sized pieces of peeled fresh finer
1 cinnamon stick
2 cups of Brandy
300ml of Champagne or Sparkling white wine
1. Chop the apples and add them to a saucepan along with 3 1/3 cup water, the cranberries, and ginger.

2. Gently simmer the mix over low heat for about 30 minutes.

3. When the apples are soft, remove the cinnamon stick and set aside to go into the finished punch. Blitz the apples, cranberries, and ginger together in a blender.

4. Strain the “smoothie” into a jug using a fine sieve or piece of cheesecloth, pressing as much liquid from the pulp as possible, then add the brandy.

5. Decorate with apple slices or fresh cranberries, the reserved cinnamon stick and then mixi n the champagne.

LANEWAYS: OUR ESSENTIALS

It's that time of the year again: Auckland Anniversary weekend!

One great thing that happens every year is Laneways festival. Some the best indie acts come in from around the world for a day on Aucklands waterfront to play great music in the sunshine for all those enjoying a day off. To get you ready this year, we have the best of the best essentials to make sure you have an amazing time in style. Here are our 3 essentials for the day!

1. FLOWER CROWN

Rose Tinted Flower Crown, $30.

No indie look would be complete without a pretty flower crown to top a gorgeous outfit. The bigger- the better!

2. GO HANDS FREE - THE CASUAL CLUTCH

Caravan Small Purse, $35.

When you are busy dancing and grooving it is important to be hands free and not having a large bag stopping you from having a good time. That being said, you also need a clutch to carry lip balm, money and i-d. This is where the Caravan Coin Purses come in. Big enough for the essentials - small enough so you can dance the day away without having to worry about a big bag.

3. HAIR CLIPS

On a long day out, we always keep a hair tie and a clip just incase of a hair emergency. Our leaf clips are perfect and definitely a sweet touch!

WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR & NEW YOU

The start of a new year is enough to get everyone excited for change and new things to come. Most resort to writing new years resolutions and if not all the time - most of the time it can be hard to keep these new resolutions going through the whole 365 days. We have the best three ways to kick start those new years resolutions without going cold turkey so that you can keep them long term which in turn will lead to a better you!

START WITH SMALLER STEPS

The most common thing we hear is "I am going to start going to the gym 4 times per week." If you haven't started going until now - this is probably not the smartest goal. Take it steady and slow. Maybe start with one to twos time and just let things naturally progress. Only fools rush in!

PLOT TARGET TIMES

Instead of making it for the whole of 2015 - why not put target times on your calendar for your new goals? If you are wanting to save more money - say 20 percent instead of 10 percent of your income - start saving 20 percent for 1 month first. And then once you hit that mark - make it 3 months. Before you know it, the year will be over!

MAKE THE LIST CONCISE

Don't over do it with too many changes at once. The mind only has so much energy and patience for self control. Pick 1 thing. If you are a pro - then 2 -3 but anymore will just dilute your chances of acheiving any change for the better.

Welcome to 2015 and good luck to all your adventures this year for the team at Tinyspace!
